The trouble of reading
Some time ago, when I was sorting out the notes on the Kindle, I found that I had little impression of the places where the lines had been drawn before, and I had not made any comments, and I was just a single sentence, which could not let me recall the contents of the books I had read at all. This is my defect. Although I read some books, I can't remember anything at last. Although it's different from that I haven't read, but I have limited knowledge.
I don't like to take notes all the time. No matter I study or read, I just want to enjoy myself, so I do what I want and don't want to take too much trouble. So, just like the memory of fish is only seven seconds, just like the programmer will forget the meaning of his code in three months, my detailed memory of a book will not be more than one month, and the worst situation is that even a plot and the name of a character in the book can't be remembered, unless the title of the book is the hero, such as Dr. Zhivago.
Although taking notes doesn't stop forgetting, at least there are traces to follow when you want to recall. I've started reading a book with this idea several times, but it's rarely persisted. One of the reasons may be that paper books are not easy to take notes. For my own books, I am not willing to sketch on them, and the library books will be returned sooner or later. Moreover, I am used to typing and copying, and handwriting has become a tiring thing.
Recently, my preference for paper books is not so heavy. I haven't read paper books for a long time. I don't want to buy them, and I'm too lazy to borrow them. They are heavy in my bag. It's not as convenient as reading e-books. In addition to being able to read anytime, anywhere, e-books are also easy to take notes. However, compared with reading paper books, reading e-books is a little less efficient, because they are easily attracted and interfered by electronic devices. I used to find it hard to concentrate on reading e-books, but now I have made great progress. I'm afraid I'm going to say goodbye to paper books.
In fact, reading e-books is also a bit helpless, because it's easy to find electronic resources on the Internet, so I don't want to spend money on paper books. If we talk about the price of the original, e-books and paper books are almost the same, which I can't afford, so I can only see the free and pirated ones. In fact, most of my Kindle books are not purchased from Amazon stores.
Recently, I also like to use my mobile phone to read books. I often use wechat to read books. I have the opportunity to receive books for free, and I can also use the reading time to exchange book currency to buy books. With these two channels, this app is just like free for me. I'm not a picky person, and I don't have any special needs. I usually read whatever I can get, and occasionally buy a few. However, compared with two years ago, the price of books seems to have increased a lot. You can only buy one book by saving one month's money. Wechat reading has a strong social attribute. After all, the word "wechat" is hanging. At present, it has no impact on reading. But out of the disgust of wechat, I wanted to change an app a little, so I tried Netease snail reading last night.
Snail reading mode is more novel, more like a library. You can borrow the books at will, but you can only read them for one hour every day for free. If you want to continue reading, or pay for them, or just buy them. Snail reading can also use the reading time for book currency, but it is not as affordable as wechat reading. In addition, snail reading attaches great importance to book review, sets up readers and builds pugc community, which seems to be a little more sinking than the content of wechat reading.
I'm not the kind of person who will read a book if it's a best-selling book or someone recommends it. Instead, I read all about fate, just like meeting people. Sometimes I read a favorite book, and then I will read other books of the author; sometimes I read one of someone's books, and then I read another one after several years. In addition, for free books, I will have a strong desire to collect, whether I will read them or not. I used to store more than 10 gigabytes of e-books on my hard disk, but I have never seen them. Now I see free activities in the app, no matter whether I need them or not, I need to get them first.
I would like to use only one device or software to solve my reading needs, but in this differentiated market, there seems to be no once and for all tool. Sometimes I just want to read quietly and pick up my Kindle; sometimes I want to see other people's ideas and use the mobile app. But no matter what I use, I should take notes frequently, which is my requirement, although I don't know if it can be carried out.
